Working to help keep our neighbors in their communities.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Picture

Rose Cabral

Growing up in a Section 8 apartment in Sunnyvale, when there were still fruit orchards and before the average price of a home reached over $1.5 million, framed Rose's childhood lens. She is an advocate for our unhoused neighbors and a realtor who empowers those who never dreamed they could buy a home. SacCLT combines her passion for neighborhood empowerment, homeownership, and creativity, and Rose is excited to see the positive change it creates.

Eric Furth

Having previously volunteered to help us build Harbor Garden, Eric now joins Sac CLT to help expand affordable housing and build community!

"Sacramento is the fastest-growing metro city in California; it's crucial that we break from the status quo to make this region as affordable and accessible as it can possibly be."

"I hope to use my background in affordable housing and community development to support the organization in preventing displacement and building shared community wealth.”

Cesar Julian Aguirre

As a renter, an active member of the Sacramento Tenants Union, and through their various roles within the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, Cesar gained valuable insights into the challenges faced by many in our community. Their vision is to see our housing entrusted to an entity that recognizes housing as a fundamental human right and embraces a democratic decision-making model.

Mikayla Taylor

Mikayla is the District Director for Sacramento City Councilmember Katie Valenzuela. They recognize we are in a housing crisis because of historical displacement and disinvestment. They are currently a volunteer for Sunrise Movement Sacramento, a local organization of young people fighting to stop climate change and create green jobs. Mikayla is interested in building power in communities through the connection of collective struggles and storytelling.

Gene Demian

Gene (they/them) is an environmental educator and community organizer whose advocacy is informed by a combination of diligent study and lived experience; an advocacy centered around food, climate, and disability justice, all of which are united and strengthened by the foundation of housing justice. Gene has also been a part of several food and housing cooperatives, which have instilled a strong sense of faith in the power of the collective when we choose to engage in principled cooperation.

Gabriel Morningstar

Raised in poverty by his single mother, Gabriel faced academic challenges due to dyslexia and blindness. Growing up, they volunteered extensively and supported families globally. As a young adult, they backpacked the world for eight years on a shoestring, teaching in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. These travels, though modest, enriched their perspective on religion, philosophy, and humanity. When they returned to the US, they pulled themselves out of homelessness and put themselves through school. This journey inspired their commitment to social justice and advocacy. Through adversity, they learned that our actions today shape the future, and they are dedicated to crafting a better world for all.

Tamika L'Ecluse
Executive Director

Tamika is a life-long Sacramento resident, former educator, and non-profit leader. She currently serves on the American River Flood Control District Board of Trustees following an appointment to the board in 2019, followed by an elected position in 2020.
